Robert Capa Париж в 1936-37 и 1952 годах

Robert Capa - американский фотограф (настоящее имя Endre Ernő Friedmann, по происхождению венгерский еврей, после прихода немцев к власти бежал во Францию, а потом в США), работал для журнала Life. Париж фотографировал в 1936 году - забастовки и Front Populaire. Потом со своей подругой и ассистентом Gerda Taro поехал снимать гражданскую войну в Испании. Герду там раздавил танк республиканцев 27 июня 1937 года. Фотограф так и не смог забыть эту женщину и эту трагедию. В 1944 году высадился в Нормандии вместе с войсками союзников и снимал освобождение Франции и Парижа.
В 1949 году основал фотоагентство Magnum. Снимал военные конфликты по всему миру. Погиб 5 мая 1954 года, наступив на бомбу в Индокитае.
Часть его фотоархива (4000 снимков) находится в International Center of Photography (ICP) в New York.
